We are proud to announce a return to The Windamere of Glen Amer, International Headline Entertainer and acclaimed the world over as being gifted with “the fingers of Liberace & the voice of Mario Lanza!”
Glen was born in Sydney, Australia. For 5 years he studied at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music. An invitation to London was received at the tender age of 13, to participate in the studios of Geoffrey Parsons (piano) and Erich Vietheer (voice).
He is featured as the headline entertainer on the Regent, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Silversea, Celebrity, Crystal, Norwegian, Orient, Princess, Holland America, NHK, Saga, Oceania and Seabourn cruise liners, which have taken him all over the world and extensively throughout Australia. His “Liberace” way of piano playing has proved to be extremely popular to cruise liner audiences and ably accompanied by a wide variety of repertoire from Bach organ work to Burt Bacharach. We shouldn’t miss out on his wonderful baritone voice either!
Glenn also appeared in Malaysia, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Fiji, Korea, China, Japan, New Zealand, American Samoa, The Cook Islands, Tahiti, Mexico & Vietnam.
In 2013, he made his debut in South America, with performances in Chile, Argentina & Uruguay. Also in the same year, his ‘ABC Classics’ recording with ‘The Seven Sopranos’ made its appearance, featuring his own arrangements, where he both conducted and played the piano. Presently, Glen is the Musical Director for TaritaBotsman’s ‘The Seven Sopranos’ and this year, joins ‘Opera Australia’ as pianist and conductor.
We know from his last visit to The Windamere, that Glenn positively lights up the room with his wonderful voice and fantastic “fingers on the ivories!” Audiences should be prepared to participate in his lively & energetic performances.
Karuna Kourkova is fast establishing herself as one of the most versatile young sopranos in Australia, with a dazzlingly broad repertoire, ranging from the florrid colortura arias of Mozart's great opera heroines, to jazz standards, musical theatre and world music.
Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and others with the appropriate Slavic inflection and phrasing. She studied under Isabel Cunningham at the University of Otago and subsequently continued her studies at the World renowned Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Barry Ryan, OAM, Opera Australia principal baritone . She currently studies with the internationally acclaimed Heldentenor Glenn Winslade.
Karuna has extensive experience in both concert performances and staged opera. She has appeared with the Opera Factory, Auckland, in productions produced at the Sydney Conservatorium and, most recently, as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro with Pacific Opera (Sydney), with the inclusion of the rarely performed bravura aria in the final act. On the concert platform, Karuna has undertaken several international tours with the world music group M.O.J., performing extensively throughout Asia to critical and public acclaim. She is currently the only classically trained singer in Australasia performing this repertoire.
Karuna was recently afforded the opportunity to work with such classical music luminaries as John Fisher, Lisa Gasteen and Siegfried Jerusalem at the Lisa Gasteen National Summer School, which she attended on scholarship in 2013. Karuna is thrilled to be performing with the incomparably incandescent Glenn Amer.
